Oscar winner charged after fatal crash
Roger Avary, the Oscar-winning co-writer of 'Pulp Fiction', has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence after a fatal gondola break up northwest of Los Angeles.
Reuters reports that the break up occurred in the urban center of Ojai, 80 miles (130 km) nor'-west of Los Angeles, at about 1am on Lord's Day.
Thirty-four-year-old Andreas Zedini, a rider in Avary's car, died of his injuries at a local hospital, Captain Monica McGrath of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said.
Avary's 40-year-old wife, Gretchen, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Maitre d' McGrath said Avary was released from jailhouse after mailing $50,000 bail.
